The Legend of the Higgiliemochapocco
Long, long ago, back in a time considered ancient even before the time of Pharoahs, there stood a great city called Whoalm. There, its people lived harmoniously without the fear of ever running out of food and resources. Their forest, which surrounded the whole city up, provided everything they needed, from the food for everyday to materials for shelter. Some people even called it the Cornucopia City for that reason. But despite the abundance of food and resources, some of the people, specifically the ones whop lived on the outskirts of the city near the forest, still lived in fear. It was because in the forest, there lived a fearsome creature only known as the Higgiliemochapocco.
The Higgiliemochapocco was a beast worshipped both as a deity and a monster because of its incredible yet destructive powers. It was said to have the power over time and can travel both back to the past and into the future. It was also rumored as a dominion of space and can appear at any place in a blink of an eye. Its very breath can destroy a whole civilization in a whim and was said to be the very reason why the great island of Atlantis sank.
Among these powers though, the one that made the people of Whoalm tremble in fear the most was the one they called as "Oelmadgeeneishogn". It was an ancient power that can bring forth any creatures, both majestic or terrible, that the possessor can think of. It was the source of all the mythical creatures that the world has ever seen or heard about.
Unicorns, leprechauns, dragons and phoenixes, nues, windigoes, and vampires-- they all came forth when the Higgilimochapocco thought about them. Some weren't even planned and only appeared after the beast had a dream about it. It was the reason why the people of the city avoided its domains as much as possible.
Despite all these accounts though, the truth is, the Higgiliemochapocco was just a very misunderstood being. It was a very peaceful and good-natured beast. It was even the real reason why Whoalm never ran out of food. The only reason why it stayed out of the city was to protect its people from its own uncontrollable powers. Aside from these, it didn't even look anything near fearsome. It was as human-looking as a man could be and if it wasn't for its queer way of speaking, one may mistake it for a real human. It even had its own socializing problems and a mild case of agoraphobia.
But all these things didn't change the fact that it was still a huge threat to the people of Whoalm and that the monsters that it had made have already taken so many brave souls. So just like anything that they were afraid of, they never tried to understand the beast. Instead, they dismissed it as either a monster to be killed one day or a deity to be feared of.
Then one day, The Higgiliemochapocco eventually grew tired of it. It was so tired of being misunderstood and misjudged that it finally decided to end it once and for all.
So it went out and scoured the whole city for its one and only weakness: Seafoods. The beast was a mighty beast, nobody doubted that, but just like every other beasts, it also had a weakness. Seafoods gave the beast what people would one day call Allergic reactions. It burns its skin and made it itch so hard that the very sight of it was fatal and huge amounts can disintegrate the beast's whole entire existence. That's what the beast wanted to happen.
But unforetunately, no matter how hard it tried to find any seafood, it couldn't find even a shell of a clam. It was the Vegetable season on Whoalm so there was no food available other than green leafy vegetables. But the beast didn't give up and before long, it met an octopus and the Higgiliemochapocco finally started feeling weak.
The octopus was a warlock among the whole octopus kingdom and was, like the Higgiliemochapocco, feared by its own kind so it understood what the beast wanted to do. It climbed up its shoulder and casted a powerful spell unto the beast.
The spell was an ancient spell of Death which reveals the true nature of death. Nobody knew what the beast saw but after the octopus casted the spell, its eyes widened and its tears came running down. After a few moments though, the beast started getting angry, then became silent until finally, it smiled-- it was a smile that has never crossed the beast's face all through out its long life.
The smile then turned into a supressed giggle and then into a huge laugh. The beast laughed so hard that the itch and the burning feeling that the octopus was giving him didn't seem to matter. The ground then started to tremble and the stars came falling trough the Earth in broad daylight. This was the power of the beast's breath and it fell upon the whole city of Whoalm.
Eventually, the city was destroyed and it was reduced to ashes when the beast finally stopped laughing. The beast never knew about this though since it too, was disintegrated to ashes and was never seen again.
Such was the fate of a beast known as the Higgiliemochapocco; Burned to dusts by its sorrow and blown into the wind along with the ashes of the city that never tried to understand it.
Now, this is a true story and the beast and the city's ashes are now the very sand of a desert called the Sahara Desert.
