A series of random thoughts

Well I’ve been spacing out even more lately and while doing so, I stumbled upon some questions that I’d probably like to ponder upon more some time. But since it isn’t all that grand anyway, I thought I might as well tell you guys about it. So here they are, in some annoying bullet form:

  • What’s special about the species called Homo Sapiens

In our usual space fiction stories, the presence of other-wordly beings collectively called as Aliens isn’t all that strange. I was just wondering though, if they do exist, and I’m sure it’s probable, what sets us, Humans, apart from them, aside from the obvious outer appearances?

For example, remember Ben 10? All of Ben’s aliens have something that makes them… special. Like Four Arms is incredibly strong, or Gray Matter is a genius. And then there’s Heatblast being able to make fire and so on. What I mean when I asked “What’s special about us” is what’s that ability that makes us special? Technically speaking, we are, after all, aliens from another planet’s perspective. So what’s so special about Humans that would make them unique?

Well I was thinking, maybe it’s our Technology. But I just had to dismiss the thought since I believe that all civilization, whether they’re alien or not, are bound to progress in Technology. Their’s might be more primitive than us but that’s still progress and sooner or later, they’ll be able to outrun us in the race. So I thought, could it be our Adaptability? This one’s quite sensible too since Humanity, a you would agree, is a fast changing species. One moment we’re against this notion and then the next, we’re out in the streets fighting for it! But heh, again, I thought it’s something that’s inevitable in evolution. Species will change, no matter what, to survive its surrounding regardless whether it’s here in our planet on another. That’s of course if and only if they underwent evolution. They wouldn’t have to adapt if they were just created in an instant, you see.

So that’s it. I tried thinking about it more but I just couldn’t find anything that’s special about humans. Size? Intellectual Capacity? More Limbs than them? I don’t think we’re any better in those terms than them. Or maybe… we just haven’t reached our peak yet. Maybe there’s still room to improve humans. Maybe one day we’ll be able to grow wings or maybe use telepathy and talk to non-biological stuff and will them to grow and fix themselves(lol, Star Trek stuff). I don’t know. So that’s why I’m leaving this to you guys.

  • Emotions

Well I was thinking about the brain and I just realized how… really powerful it just really is. Err, actually, I do know how powerful it really is but I just wanted to think about it more so that’s… Aaaaah! Never mind. Anyway, I believe that we already know everything and somehow, it’s just at the back of our minds. Like a secret feature in a game that you can’t play unless you unlock it. Everything, from how the world is made to the end, we already know it all. But that’s not what I like to talk about now so let’s save that for another post.

Anyhow, in connection to that stream of thought, I thought maybe there’s something that’s hindering us to use the full capacity of our mind. Or maybe not full capacity but at least most of it. What’s that thing? Emotions. Anger, Love, Frustration, Regret… I know they’re just nouns and somewhat abstract but I classify them as emotions. Sigh. If you bore into them that’s they’re just chemical reactions done by the brain itself. But why? Why do we have to feel fear? or loneliness? or wrath? Well it’s just a guess to be honest but maybe it’s to limit our minds; to prevent us from exploring that dark void inside our head even more. They’re like firewalls that prevents our computers to access the Internet, that large vast collection of knowledge that we already acquire.

So yeah, what do you think? Maybe I’m just over thinking but it’s reasonable right? Err yeah. I forgot all the other things I wanted to say about this topic.

Well that’s some of them. In truth, there’s still 3 of them that’s hovering just above my tongue and I’d do all hell to get them out but I just feel so lazy right now after typing more than 4 paragraphs. haha. I guess I’ll just save them again for another post. I hope I’ve left you some things to ponder about. If not, then I’m sorry for being so useless and for blathering about trivial things that you wouldn’t even need in your life.

Haha. Just don’t blame me if I break the Algorithm first because I’m not coming back for anyone when I do. Err… yeah.
